I'm going to start a cycle of about Odoo. It is a tool for
the global management of your company. I'm sure you're surprised by everything
it offers.
What is Odoo?
On other occasions, I have talked about applications that
allow you to manage the projects you want to carry out. The great advantage of
Odoo is that it is a suite that brings together a large number of independent
options that cover the different areas of a company.
It is, they say, an open source project with a large
community. As in other similar cases, this means that it is evolving and that
it receives updates. This ensures that errors whether functionality or security
corrected with agility and efficiency. And, as with free software, the price is
more than helpful.
One of Odoo's strengths is data management. Its
infrastructure allows the management of databases with high volumes. Besides,
it offers three management options. Two in the cloud, one of them with a
dedicated accommodation, which implies an extra cost. But you also have the
possibility to work "on-premise", that is, with local servers.
As you will see in the next posts, this application offers a
level of usability that facilitates the handling of any user. You only need an
internet connection and any browser to access the tool.
Manage all areas of your business with Odoo
I explain what I mean when I say that with Odoo you can
manage all areas of your business.
It is possible that in your company you need to keep them
accounts, perform the billing and carry out the procedures of human resources.
They are some of the innate tasks of business management. And for all this, you
use different tools.
There are other tasks that are more specific. You have e-commerce, or you need to track your customers. In some case, your business requires
keeping track of the inventory. It may be useful, in certain situations, to
automate marketing actions. In another case, you interested in a tool to manage
events. There are solutions that ease the work of developing each of these
tasks.
But you can also count on Odoo. As I said before, this is an
application suite. Not only do you have a tool to direct your projects, which
is what I will tell you about. This suite has individual interfaces to cover
each of these needs and many more. In this way, you can do without using twelve
or fifteen different applications and manage everything with Odoo.
The great advantage of this option is that by doing so, the
integration between all the software will be absolute.
Options and price of Odoo
As is logical, the price you must pay to use this software
depends on the options you choose. The more applications you need and the more
users will take part, the higher the price. But, of course, you will not be
forced to pay for those utilities that you do not need.
On the rates page ( https://www.odoo.com/pricing ) you can
choose both the number of users and the combination of tools. Keep in mind
that, also, you have integrations with external companies such as UPS, FedEx or
eBay.
You will find, in some case, that there are tools whose use
conditioned to the acquisition of others. For example, the accounting tool
requires that you also have the billing tool; or if you interested in quality
control you will be forced to include the inventory.
As I mentioned before, you can choose the type of
implementation. The option of a dedicated hosting implies an extra cost. But,
whether you decide for service in the normal cloud, or for the solution
"on-premise", you will not find any increase in the price.
You also have the option to hire an implementation service.
Depending on the complexity of the product you have selected, it may be
convenient.
Conclusions
Odoo is a great option for the global management of your
company. It allows you to integrate all the tools you need into a single pack,
which is very convenient.
As you will understand, this is not obligatory. If what you
need is only to cover a specific activity you can choose it and take advantage
of great advantage. The price for only one application regardless of the number
of users is zero. Free. And that is what I will explain in the following
